The IB Pinning Ceremony honoring the Lambda Class of 2013 will be held on Friday, May 31 at 6pm at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance.

Four students from Lamar Academy were inducted as new members of the National Honor Society in a ceremony held at the school May 1, 2013. Members were selected by the chapter’s Faculty Council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Students inducted were Cristian Barron, Jasmine Cirisa, Eleanor Dogoldogol, and Crista Morua.
“We are very proud to recognize these outstanding members of our student body. National Honor Society members are chosen for and then expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community,” said Ms. Micky Pelletier, chapter sponsor.
The Lamar Academy chapter is in its Inaugural year; and, in the future, plans to sponsor several service projects for the school and the community.
The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Chapters exist in more than 15,000 schools and, since 1921, millions of students have been selected for membership. This national student recognition organization is proudly sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Lamar Academy student Jasmine Ochoa wins the 2nd place Silver Medal on 3D Nail Art Skills Event at the recent State Cosmolgy competition. Congratulations, Jasmine!

Rolando Benitez has won a $1,000. scholarship from the Texas Association for Alternative Education (TAAE). (The) presentation ceremony is to recognize Rolando's efforts in achieving this TAAE Taylor Marceau $1,000 Scholarship Award and to install a sense of pride for having achieved this goal in front of all the alternative education teachers across the state attending who strive hard to make sure our kids succeed.

The Lamar Academy Masterminds team won their match on January 21, 2013 by defeating McAllen Memorial HS. The match will air on Channel 5 on Feb 17th. Lamar Academy Masterminds advances to the third round of competition. The Lamar Academy Masterminds team consists of Douglas DeLeon, Alan Diaz-Santana, Juan Linares. Julia Goolsby and Anna McGilvary serve as alternates. Mr. Ojeda is the team sponsor.

Brian Willis, a former teacher here at Lamar Academy, was formally recognized by one of his former Lamar Academy students, Rafael Lemus, for a community service award. Please click here to read more about this wonderful story.
